how many of you own an iphone or other smartphone, and only use pandora on it for listening to music instead of your music collection? personally, i really hate having to use itunes to transfer music to my phone, but pandora streaming over 3g isn't always reliable and more of a battery drain. i might give it another try once 4.0 os comes out and i can run pandora in the background, but i'm always a little surprised when i hear that so many people use pandora exclusively for mobile music.

My music collection is really limited, so I tend to try to use streaming services.

I personally hate pandora on my phone, the app's inconsistent, and I've never gotten into the program anyways. I very rarely like their suggestions. I'd take an iPod over it any day.

I really only listen to my music collection on my iPhone. Pandora always recommends songs I don't like and I hate it that I can't use other apps while it's running (for now at least).

I just use my music collection, internet radio selections are always lacking for me (besides that pandora won't work outside the US).  In the cases that I do use internet radio, I prefer last.fm

I like the idea, it's just my personal collection is so much larger and tailored to my tastes.  I use internet radio on occasion to find new music, but not as a primary listening mechanism.

I only listen to Pandora or podcasts on my iPhone. I've got a 120 gig iPod classic for music, so I take that anywhere I think I'll actually seriously be listening to music. Pandora is great background noise.

Pretty much this. Pandora is great for when you aren't just sitting there listening to music, but doing something else as well. I used to listen to it all the time when I played Starcraft back in the day (by which I mean, like last year. I was a little late to the party). It helps me find some great new music that in turn ends up on my iPod, which I do listen to seriously.

very interesting. thanks for the responses. i wish there was an easy way to quickly access bookmarked artists on pandora without having to go to you pandora profile page. i find myself discovering a lot of new music when i do use it (mostly while at a desktop), but always forget to go back and check out those artists later.

I use the radio function on my Zune all the time because I'm slightly backwards like that. Also I like listening to my morning shock jocks when I'm getting up.

Due to the fact that pandora isn't available outside of the US, I'm limited to my own collection which makes discovery of new music without listening to the radio near impossible

Whenever I wanna venture into new music territory I throw on pandora, but sometimes I just feel like listening to something I can sing along to.

I turn on Pandora as I am sitting at my desk.  It helps me find new music that I can listen to when running or working or whatever.  Plus it is nice when I really don't like a song enough to buy it right now.

I've been using a 5th gen iPod (first gen iPod video) and iTunes to transfer music to it since 2005 and don't plan on stopping any time soon.
