As above, I don't own one, no Ipod,, No mobile that plays Music, nada, I used to own a Walkman, then the laser broke and I didn't replace it, don't get me wrong, Music is my life, I just never had the urge to buy an Ipod, I have borrowed one from a friend, and they are neat, but I was never bothered without it.
I never bought one, I still own the same phone I got for my 15th birthday, (7 years ago) All it does is text and receive and dial phone calls,
I never received one as a gift, and I never asked for one.

And I am finally thinking of looking for one, I remember a sony one a few years ago that when you go for a run it rates your heartbeat or something and it chooses songs that either has a faster tempo or a slower tempo that goes with your heartbeat, is that still around? I forgot the name of it, Can someone help me out with that?
Cheers.

It's with very little overstatement that I call an MP3 player the best purchase I've ever made. I used to have to fiddle with a book of 200 CDs whenever I wanted to hear something. Now I just pull the player out of my pocket and let 'er rip.

If it makes you feel any better I no longer own any CD's.

If you're looking for MP3 players, the iPod pretty much has the market in a headlock. The Sony one you're talking about sounds familiar, but I haven't heard of that in a while. If you don't want to spend the money on the iPod touch, you can get a 160GB iPod Classic for a pretty good price (or smaller if that's too big for your needs). As far as I know it's basically iPod's and Zune's. No one is really fighting for the MP3 market anymore, they're just letting Microsoft and Apple fight it out.

Still, if you're using a 7 year old phone you might just be best to upgrade to a smartphone that can play MP3's, there's plenty of selection in that market and just carry around one device instead of your MP3 player and your phone.

I own a iPhone so I guess I've to say yes, but I never use it for MP3s and I have never used any MP3 player on a daily basis. I really only use a portable music player when I'm on vacation.

I would like that SONY one as it straps to your arm, (I think,) I wan't to take it with me when I run, and that tempo thing sounds wicked,

Every iPod has numerous accessories, including arm bands. And the commercials don't lie. There's probably an app that does what you're looking for.

I own a Zune, but I listen to music on my computer using the Zune software more than I use my actual Zune.

I never used to own one, but now I have an iPod touch and it's excellent.  It's great to listen to music while cycling, or just get this thing that lets you play the ipod through your car stereo.  It's not just music though, I watch movies, play games, and check email on the thing.  I used to not think it was a big deal, but now that I own one it's amazing how much use I get out of it.

I don't have one mainly because i never can/need to listen to music outside of my house. I am looking for one so that i can have some music to listen to when driving but I'm not sure what I should get.

I used to have an iPod Touch, but now I have an iPhone.  I feel very naked without a portable music player (I have an over hour commute every day on the train, so I really need something.  Either music or my kindle or both).

My progression was Original iPod > iPod Mini > iPod Nano > iPod Nano 2G > iPod Touch 1G + Shuffle > iPhone 3GS.  They are the most popular MP3 player for a reason right now, and of course there are other alternatives you can use that will work well, the iPod does provide a very seamless and user friendly experience, so I'd recommend one.  As for which one, it depends what you need.

Since you mentioned exercise, I think perhaps the iPod Nano would be good (good capacity, still has a screen, lightweight and good for exercise).  The iPod Touch is good too if you want to dabble in the world of iPhone apps.  iPod Classic I think is only for the audiophile that MUST carry all his music around with him, I think it's overkill myself.  Shuffle is good as a secondary iPod if you already have one of the others and want something light just for exercise etc.  The iPods also have the Nike + iPod feature that can do similar exercise/tracking as the one you mentioned.

Love MP3 players, hate Apple ones, though. I'll take one that has double the memory for half the price, kthx. Last 3 I've owned have been SanDisk brand - Clip, Sansa e200, and now a Clip+. Load it up with a microSD card, a bunch of FLACs and I have good music in the car or flying or wherever. Sounds great, mang.
