Anyone else still using 2 GB of RAM?

I still use only two 1GB sticks of DDR2 RAM.  I don't know if I need to upgrade, but I am told that is an extremely small amount.  I use my machine for gaming, mostly, but I am able to max most games at my screens native resolution.  Would doubling that amount of RAM increase gaming performance?

I also run 2 gigs in my desktop, which is used mostly for gaming as well. I too can max out most games at native res. I think that as long as you are happy with the gaming performance it has, why would you need to spend more money? My new laptop has 4 gigs, but I don't notice much of a difference as far as the ram side of the equation is concerned.

Short answer: if you're happy with the performance, save your money and invest it in another upgrade or a new build down the line. If you're not happy, RAM is fairly cheap and will boost the performance of just about anything. However, if your OS is only 32 bit it won't "see" more than a little over 3GB, and if you're still running xp, 2 gigs is about all you need and is all that is recommended for any game I've ever seen.

I have 3GB in my desktop, but it's a 32-bit, so what can I do. Seems fine, for the most part.

Yes, and its slowly killing me inside. I currently playing Age of Conan, and with nothing running in the background besides WMP, I'm constantly running at 95-97% of my physical memory. Gonna buy 2GB more on monday, this madness has to stop. xD I'm also working with Autodesk Maya and Zbrush, and 2GB doesn't really cut is there either.

Regarding your question. It really depends on the game, and what you're running in the background. You can monitor your memory usage and if it gets up in 90's % like in my case, then you probably should consider buying some more.

My desktop is 4, my laptop is 2.  I can play games pretty effectively in both of them, though I rarely do as I am too lazy to reboot.  (Though steam and LoL being ported should relieve that problem).

I've never had performance issues on either.

I've got 2 GB in my main machine. It never gets saturated, even with playing recent games. I don't see any need to put more memory in it, so I haven't, even though I have enough spare DIMMs lying around to upgrade it.

Are you using Vista? I've heard it gets really slow in games with only 2 GB. Same probably goes for Vista 1.1 (or 7, as it's marketed). There's a reason why most games have twice the minimum memory requirement for Vista vs XP.

Yeah, I'm only using 2gb. I plan on upgrading from XP to 7 this summer though, so I fancy getting another 1 or 2 gig. Anyone know where to get some cheap DDR2 ram (UK please)? It seems to have gone up in price, and is at a similar point to the DDR3 ram...

I'm using the max allowed for 32-bit Windows 7. I have 4GB installed but it doesn't use all of it.
