What's your [MMO] Poison?

As a longterm MMO player, I've dabbled in many many different MMOs over the years, curious who here (if anyone) plays any MMOs.  If so, what is your MMO of choice?

Right now, I'm not playing anything.  When my desktop comes back in (which has my boot camp partition) I may give Fallen Earth a second try.  I played WoW and FFXI for years and EVE very briefly before I realized that everyone that plays EVE is a total jerk.

What do you play, or if you aren't playing something, what do you look for?  Myself, I am looking for a non-fantasy MMO (I like fantasy, but want something different) that isn't EVE.  So far, there is a huge lack in that area.

WoW-free for three years and loving it. I just had an epiphany one day when I was grinding something out for the umpteenth time that went something like, "I am absolutely not having fun right now. This is work."

I did get a beta invite for Lego Universe, though, and I've been tempted to give it a whirl.

It seems like 90% of the MMO's out today are in some fantasy world, which is fine, but it gives me little to recommend you. Star Trek online, maybe?

I have no interest in the ST universe though, which seems to be more where it is targeted at.  Plus I have been burned quite a few times by Cryptic already.

WoW was my drug for a while, though I never got into it like some people I know did (and still do). My problem with MMO's is the same problem I share with most JRPG's. I HATE grinding. Hate it, so much. It ruins all enjoyment for me. I stopped playing WoW because I got so tired of running around mining for three hours at a time. I'm not really sure of any other MMO's I want to play though. I am interested in Star Wars: The Old Republic, but I imagine that will be a WoW clone in space. I hope they do something different with it, but it just seems like everyone is trying to be WoW these days, and there's not a lot of people trying anything different.

At the end of the day, I think I like the concept of MMO's more than I actually like playing them.

My problem with MMOs is that I usually lose interest in them after a while. It happened in Guild Wars in that I didn't feel compelled to continue playing after I reached a certain point. I use to be a really dedicated Star Wars Galaxies fan but then the man broke my heart.

City of Heroes was pure adiction, that's why I don't allow myself to play it!

The DCU MMO also looks very good to me, too!

tried STO for a bit, but was really disappointed with how rush it felt. waiting for APB and TOR. DC online doesn't look promising, and i'm still a little confused about how the lego MMO is going to work.

Don't have the time, and even if I did I wouldn't waste it on an mmo

@Addfwyn: I played Everquest for 3 or 4 years, pretty much from launch until the shitty expansion after Planes of Power. I absolutely loved that game in the Velious timeframe, For me, the progression through the giant city, into the Halls of Testing and West ToV to NToV was the best thing ever. The challenge of Sleepers and Plane of Growth on top of that was even better. It sounds kind of weird, but I loved how insanely difficult and unfair that game was. Not only were we figuring out the encounters as we went, lots of times we were figuring out if the encounters were even supposed to be beatable. WoW lacks that uncertainty.

I also played WoW, and even though the game was much better and they smoothed out the rough parts of earlier MMOs, it didn't have quite the same charm. While many of the mechanics of EQ were emergent, because so much stuff was broken in that game, when it was codified in WoW, it changed the whole thing. That, and the fact that they removed much of the pulling game from WoW, meant I wasn't as interested.

The only one which i have played at the great lengths is Guild Wars, i did enjoy but the endless gameplay put me off for good.

Huge Guild Wars fan but I stopped playing actively 2 years ago or so. Played through all the missions many, many times with 4 or 5 PvE characters on all of the continents and played a fair amount of PvP. I would have kept going but hero builds got so efficient that it was nearly impossible to find people to do quests with half the time. And don't bother trying to get anyone to run through Factions with you. I think Guild Wars 2 will be excellent though, I'm just worried about how much time I'm going to have to play it since it'll come out when I'm a sophomore/junior in college.

Haven't played any other MMOs recently though. Haven't found any that were good. I played SilkRoad for a while, that was OK. Beta tested a ton of others, retail and free. None clicked.

I've played through a number of MMOs such as; Age of Conan, LotRO and WoW.  Each of them have their merits and are fun to play for a while but I've found that every MMO will eventually become boring, this is why I don't play any of them.
