I'm looking forward to testing this out. Even sitting at my desk it would interesting to navigate Steam with a controller. Don't really have the internet connectivity to test it out on a TV at the moment.
I really, really like that they have a screenshot function built right into the controller profile, and that a press of the guide button takes you into Big Picture. I'm working on setting up a fresh new Windows 7 install + auto startup Steam + load straight into Big Picture with a wireless Xbox 360 pad for my girlfriend to play Borderlands 2 on.
Thanks Gaben!
With regards to stability, I've had no problems with it during my 3/4 hours of use, I'm on Windows 7 + i5 2500k + GTX 570 with latest beta drivers, so far it's behaved just fine with The Witcher 2, Half Life 2, SHOGUN 2 and Fallout: New Vegas.
Overall, I'm pretty excited about it. The first step to the Steambox :) Took a bunch of Screenshots for pcper but encourage you guys/girls to check it out for yourself, just enable the steam beta update in Steam's Settings menu! :)
Personally I don't find this that useful, but I know a lot of people have been wanting this for quite a while.
So, do you care? Think this is going to draw in more console players? Discuss.

Well it's definitely still a beta, it's constantly crashing for me, hopefully it all gets ironed out for the full release.
@JamesRockley: Same here, def. still a beta!
Seems fine to me!

Heh, maybe Steam just doesn't like Windows 8 RTM ;)

I love that you can now access the steam overlay with a controller.
