Skip amazon for coffee, if it's not direct from the roaster chances are its not fresh. Good roasters put roasted on date on the package (usually 24-48hrs of being shipped), not an expiration date. Look for a local roasters if you can, otherwise if there isn't any in your area here are a few to order from online.
Just my opinion, but I'd check Yelp for local coffee shops. Many roast their own coffee and sell whole beans. So you're guaranteed to get fresh roasted coffee, which is more important than the brand name.
Dracono said it best, if its not directly from the roasters then its not going to be fresh. however there ares some factors to consider here.
where are you located? try to find coffee that is roasted locally, there is less of a chance that when its shipped that it will be fouled by the shipping co.
Also if you can purchase it direct from the roasters there is a chance you can get some off label coffee and be informed when the high end coffee come in ( like Jamaica blue mountain)
If you want to order from Amazon I like the Kicking Horse stuff. Currently enjoying http://www.amazon.com/Kicking-Horse-Coffee-Z-Wrangler-12-3-Ounce/dp/B001SJHO4M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331876656&sr=8-1 from my Aeropress.
Amazon doesn't, unfortunately, ship overseas which is a shame because I've been dying to try the Marley Coffee brand.
Not Amazon, but https://caffeibis.com/ has some amazing beans. The Logan Canyon and Mexican Chipas are my favorites.
Weird, it seems most of this thread is missing. There were some good suggestions in here. I'll look into the ones you guys have posted also. Thanks

The Hardscrabble blend from Bridgeport Coffee Company is great.
