Delaying live video?

  • Hey guys, I'm a gymnastics coach and I'm looking for a way to run a constant video, but on a 20ish second delay. It doesn't have to be recording anything, just showing the video. I've found iPad, mac, and PC apps that can do this, but I wanted to see if there were any cheaper solutions than blowing $500 on a new laptop.

    Thanks in advance, guys!

  • When you say "Run a video" do you mean like streaming a webcam?

  • Yeah, just didn't want to say stream because most people associate that with pumping it out over the internet. I only need it in a preview on the computer or tv, it doesn't need to stream online.

  • Just buy an older camcorder, and put the video out to the TV. I'm sure you can delay it that way. I'm not sure how much that would cost you though.

I would think an old PC running a webcam and doing video out to a monitor would be the easiest and cheapest. It wouldn't need that much power. I would think you could do it all for 2 or 3 hundred.
