I used to get blazing speed from whiskey sites but recently over the past few days or so I have been getting really slow video downloads from all of them. Here are my current download speeds from across whiskey:
The sites themselves seem to load fine, maybe a little sluggish but nothing really noticeable. When i first encountered the problem I thought it was jut my connection but I have been speed testing since the problem and it seems fine. This is my most recent speedtest result so at around 30 Mb I should be able to watch videos just fine. Youtuve 720p videos buffer at about 10x actual speed and gom tv player buffers well too so I dont think its my isp shaping video traffic either. I'm on virgin media in the UK and all they do is slow you down for 3 hours if you go over your peak time limit and I know its not that because of the speed tests and youtube results.
I am on windows 7 and that download specifically was in chrome beta but the same can be said for firefox 4 and this is happening on all whiskey sites. I am sort of at a loss as to what the problem could be, it's almost as if my connection is being limited only when connecting to media.tested etc. I assume this isn't a wide spread problem or it would have probably been more uproar but any help on the matter would be great.
Software specs.
Windows 7 home premium
Microsoft security essentials
Standard windows firewall.
Also, I'm from the UK but I highly doubt that matters.
@ebritt: Do you get a lot of buffering when streaming WM videos, or just downloading? I know you mentioned that Youtube and such are fine, but how about here?
@Mirado: yeah I do i just went to download that time so I could see precise speeds. It's weird this has never really happened before, maybe it will just fix itself over time but for now its super annoying.
