The Boy on the Bridge (The best Zombie book you haven't read)

  • I have read only two Zombie dystopian fiction books, "The Boy on the Bridge" and it's predecessor "The Girl with all the Gifts", which was also adapted by the author into an (underappreciated) movie.

If you haven't read the first installment in the series, you absolutely should but you can enjoy "The Boy" without having done so. Carey's style will have you eagerly ripping through the pages, his pacing, character and story development is absolutely on the money. I'm not sure, but his background in writing for Marvel may have helped hone this talent. Super creepy Zombies? Check. Scottish Villages? Check. Junior wunderkind balls deep in the Spectrum? Check. Military leaders with troubled history? Check. Bio-horror post pandemic dystopia? Check. I loved "The Girl" and urged everybody I knew to read it, I will be doing the same with "The Boy". Consider yourselves so urged.
