Single-purpose devices are the bane of any chef. It’s a giant pain in the butt to have to keep a tool around that just does one thing – say, an ice cream maker. Thankfully, you can dump that one and just use your handy food processor to make small batches of ice cream easily. Ice cream gets its creamy consistency from being churned while it freezes. If you just freeze the mixture in one big bowl, it will separate into ice crystals and a solid mass. To avoid this, pour your mixture sans cream into ice cube trays to freeze it more efficiently, and then once frozen mix with chilled cream in your food processor to make a perfect, rich dessert.
