Fictional User Interface Database

By Norman Chan

Made by designers, against design principles.

Kit FUI is a budding database project from presentation software maker Noteloop. It aims to index and archive representative fictional user interfaces (or fantasy user interfaces) from movies, tv shows, commercials, and even short films. You know, those faux future operating systems and hacker consoles that look cool for the split second they're on screen, but inscrutable given any, well, scrutiny. The database is far from complete, but I like that, when possible, it links back to the original production designers' website for more artwork. Like IMDB, it's a gateway to lose several hours of your day.
