Building Ships In a Bottle
Coinciding with a feature story in its sixth volume, Smith Journal produced this short film about Ray Gascoigne, an Austrailian model ship builder who has made over a hundred tiny ships in bottles over the span of 60 years. For the most part, he still uses the same tools he did when he first started. My favorite part is when Gascoigne talks about the feeling of accomplishment he feels after finishing a piece, "probably like an artist would [feel]". Sir, you ARE an artist.
