Watch Olly Moss Explain His Art ProcessBy Norman Chan You may have seen those amazing Star Wars posters hanging in the back of Tested videos last year, when we were still filming at my house. They're the work of British artist Olly Moss, who's also a friend of GiantBomb (he'll be at GDC this year!). Olly is both prolific and incredibly talented--you may have seen his art on the box of PlayStation's Resistance 3 game.
In this lengthy presentation from the Offset conference (a large annual design show in Dublin), Olly retraces the evolution of his work, starting with his submissions to t-shirt site Threadless. I had no idea I owned threeshirts designed by him. We hear the stories behind many of his recognizable designs (including the Star Wars ones!), how he transitioned from t-shirt work to poster and print jobs, and why his posters are about movies, but not for movies. One of the most insightful sequences is about his 8 month stint working in Hollywood for the production of the comic book movie The Losers. It's a captivating talk if you're at all interested in pop art, design, and lessons learned from both success and failure. (h/t Joey!)
