I'm not sure the letters "NFS" (short for "not for sale") have ever disappointed me more. Los Angeles-based artist Amanda Visell has finally completed a delightful set of custom carved Star Wars action figures, each with its own wooden display box and art. The figures--Darth Vader, Obi Wan, Boba Fett, and IG-88 are the result of over a year spent working on the project; Visell's blog and Twitter had teased photos of the figures being worked on, including Leia, Chewie, and R2D2 figures that were finished earlier.
Visell's other works can be viewable on Switcheroo, and the artist has previously worked with vinyl toy company Kid Robot for collectible vinyl figurines. My favorite is this limited edition wooden "labbit" that was sold at Comic-Con a few years ago--a collaboration with famed graphic artist Frank Kozik. If you like Visell's work, I recommend her inspirational poster series for both boys and girls, which are on sale now.
