Couldn't you just replace those 2 with gmote?
Oh btw Will have you tried DoubleTwist media player? After tinkering with the multitude of media players on android, I found it the most convenient, and works pretty much like itunes. My problem was that all other media players including default do not class albums by album artist, so albums with a lot of remixes with various .Feat artists would get their own 1-song albums, doubletwist and itunes rectify that.
I'd recommend the 3 music player:

and for a tweet client probably can't do better than tweetdeck

I also like the official twitter client better but you had your reasons why you didn't
ADW Laucher - another Nice Theme Replacement
Seesmic - a Very Good Twitter Cilent
Smart Keyboard - Fast and very well done keyboard & Multi Touch Enable If U Have 2.0+
Doubletwist - have a very sexy ui, pretty good music & video player and can sync media from the desktop app
dpod - is a free and well done app to get all your podcast
giant bomb app
I'm running ADW, and I would recommend it too. It's great if you're stuck on 1.6 since Will's recommendation isn't 1.6 compatible as far as I know.
And yes, Giant Bomb app. :P
I wish there were more apps like DoggCatcher. Apps that really do things that make the phone feel like it's the future and things that Apple doesn't let you do. Waking up and knowing that any new podcasts are on my phone ready to go is awesome.
